Start with the story

Visit Bhalka from your Somnath base to follow a different chapter of Prabhas’s sacred history. Keep Bhalka and Dehotsarg distinct: the arrow strikes Krishna here; his divine departure is commemorated separately on the Hiran riverbank.

Sthala puranam

Krishna rests in meditation beneath a pipal tree. From a distance the hunter Jara mistakes the Lord’s foot for a deer and releases an arrow. It strikes Krishna at Bhalka. The Somnath Trust then recounts Krishna’s journey towards the confluence of Hiran, Kapila and Saraswati and his return to his divine abode on the banks of Hiran. These linked places hold successive moments of the Lord’s lila.

The people and craft behind the temple

The Somnath Trust identifies Bhalka on the Prabhas–Veraval road and distinguishes it from Dehotsarg. This sacred geography gives the visit its context: Somnath’s Shiva worship and Krishna’s final earthly journey belong to the same wider Prabhas pilgrimage, with separate shrines and routes.

Plan your visit

Opening hours not yet confirmed. The suggested visit needs an opening-time check.

Allow a local journey from Somnath and time to return. Current Bhalka darshan hours have not been confirmed. Gita Mandir and Dehotsarg are not included in this stop’s visit budget; add separate travel and visits if continuing there.

Discoveries to take with you

Main shrine

Let the account of Krishna beneath the pipal tree guide your darshan. Attend to the moment remembered here before moving on to the next part of the pilgrimage.

After darshan, before onward travel

Locate Bhalka and Dehotsarg separately on your map. Recount the arrow here and the subsequent journey to Hiran, preserving the order of the sacred account.
