Read Supriya’s account before joining the queue, so the movement through the hall becomes connected with the devotee’s prayer rather than a hurried arrival at another shrine.
The demon Daaruka imprisons Supriya, a devotee of Shiva. In captivity Supriya continues to invoke the Lord with Om Namah Shivaya. Shiva answers the prayer, overcomes the demon and grants deliverance. The self-manifested lingam is worshipped here as Nageshwar. The account places unwavering remembrance of Shiva at the heart of this pilgrimage.
The temple forms part of the wider Dwarka pilgrimage landscape. Its main sanctum stands at the end of a large hall, directing attention towards the lingam. Nearby Gopi Talav has its own Krishna account; it is a separate sacred place and requires a separate visit.

Gujarat Tourism places the temple about 18 km from Dwarka and lists only dawn–dusk, not exact hours. Confirm darshan periods before setting out. Budget road travel and the return to Dwarka; this is not a local Somnath stop.
